London Brewers’ Market at at the Horniman Museum Festival of Dance

image

We are delighted to be back at the Hornmian Museum and Gardens to celebrate the opening event of the summer season with their Festival of Dance.

We are hosting a line-up of 8 breweries hailing from across London – each one independently owned and bursting with tasty beers and beverages to keep thirsts quenched across the day.

Alongside an international street food offering and arts-and-crafts sessions across the day, there will be fun for all of the family (and not just the beer drinkers in the group!)

Nestled in the leafy heart of Forest Hill, South London the Horniman Museum and Gardens have stunning views across London with plenty of space for lounging in the sun and even a minature golf course if you fancy playing a few holes.

Throughout the day there will be dance performances, East African dance classes and live music on the bandstand with performances from Op Sa!, Ella Mesma Company and Malphino.

Confirmed brewery lineup so far includes:

Brewheadz

Canopy Beer Co

Southwark Brewery

The Five Points Brewing Company

Kew Brewery

Anspach and Hobday

The all day event is free and open to all. We’re excited to see everyone there for what’s going to be a cracking Sunday.

Colin Brooks and Mike Willetts met in 2003 at Warwick University, bonding over a love for real ale. They began homebrewing together in a studio flat in Shepherd’s Bush and then upgraded to a small 5 BBL kit at UBREW, the open brewery. They’re currently in the process of moving under an arch in Bermondsey, in Partizan Brewery’s old Almond Road site, where they will be operating on a 10 BBL kit and will be inviting the public in to drink on site later this year.

Both Colin and Mike consider Spartan to be a labour of love and brew in their spare time while they hold down day jobs. They’re focused on producing the kind of beer that they enjoy themselves with an emphasis on sessionable and hoppy styles in both cask and keg. They’re also committed to keeping their beers as local as possible and only use British hops.

For the London Brewers’ Market, they’re bringing along Phalanx, a blackcurrant mild, Fog of War, a NE style IPA with a low ABV twist, both on cask and keg. In can, they’ll have Trojan Horse, a California Common.

This marks our third and final Newcomer Market Spotlight, and we’re looking forward to giving them a very warm welcome on in the run-up to Saturday, 25th. As ever, the London Brewers’ Market remains a platform for independent breweries based in London, from the established, well-respected and popular, to those in the very early stages of their brewing career. Our next market is the perfect opportunity for you to taste beer from some of London’s newest players, before they become the next big thing on the scene. Check out the full lineup here.

See you at Old Spitalfield’s Market on Saturday, 25th November. The market, alongside the Independent Label Market, is free entry, welcome to all, and runs from 11.30pm until 6.30pm.

Market Spotlight: Welcoming Square Root Soda!

Market Spotlight: Welcoming Square Root Soda!

Officially, Square Root Soda began its journey in 2012 with founders Ed Taylor and Robyn Simms proffering their handmade ginger beer at a farmers’ market in Haringey. But before this, the co-founders were actually working in beer, with Robyn serving up at the Howling Hops tank bar in Hackney Wick and Ed doing the same at the Euston Tap. From ginger beer, they moved on to experimenting with…

The seasons are changing, and although this may mean the end of summer barbecues, meeting up with friends in the park and dips in the local lido, there’s still plenty to look forward to in the autumn months.

London Brewers’ Market is giving you two reasons to look forward to the autumn in the forms of two evening markets at Greenwich Market.

image

On Friday, the 22nd of September, London Brewers’ Market is celebrating London Food Link’s Urban Food Fortnight alongside Greenwich Market’s cadre of street food traders. Current traders confirmed include The Five Points Brewing Company and Orbit Beers, with more to come! Find the event on Facebook.

On Friday, the 13th of October, we’ll be celebrating London breweries’ German-influenced beers and beer styles. We are working on the line-up of traders, but expect a crew of brewers with a bit of oom-pah! Find this event on Facebook.

Both events will start at 6pm and run until 10pm to kick off the weekends, and are free entry. If you’ve been to one of our Greenwich Market London Brewers’ Markets, you’ll know to expect a great night market atmosphere and plenty of excellent beer in a historic market.
