Welcome to Wimbledon Common Prep School

SQUIRRELS (as we are affectionately known locally) is a pre-preparatory school for 140 boys aged 4-8 years. We provide a traditional, well-structured education that aims to instil a love of learning in a friendly, welcoming and attractive environment, in keeping with our motto "Industry with Cheerfulness".

Wimbledon Common Prep School (‘Squirrels') was founded in 1919 as a preparatory school for King's College School (KCS) and other public schools. The premises were originally in the High Street but in 1957 the then owner, Mrs. N. Turner, acquired the fine building on the Ridgway, opposite KCS, where the school is now situated. The school remained in the hands of the Turner family until June 2006 when it was purchased by KCS.

We feed KCS and many other respected schools such as Colet Court, Dulwich College, Rokeby, Shrewsbury House, Feltonfleet and Milbourne Lodge.

The school is situated in a beautiful building with a large playground area surrounded by trees near Wimbledon Village and the Common.

Our excellent and fully qualified teachers, most of whom have stayed with us over many years, are able to give the necessary encouragement and individual attention to inspire self-confidence and consideration for others, in an atmosphere that is both challenging and fun. We are proud that many of our past pupils and parents have kept a warm long-term contact with the school and its staff.
