Why Jan’s dance and fitness

Jan has been in the Dance and fitness industry for over 25 years. Her main passion is to help people achieve their goals be it in tap dancing or fitness

Over the years she has been in and produced many successful amateur dance shows. Taught numerous fitness clients (especially to the older generation) and helped them to keep fit and active.

Several years ago she moved from Harrow to Deal bringing her experience, enthusiasm, expertise and energy with her. Classes are fun and friendly for people of all abilities and age groups at various locations in the Deal/Walmer area plus on zoom

I joined Jan’s tap dancing class about six months ago. My main aim after lockdown was to get fit. As I had done a bit of tap before this seemed the perfect class.

Well, this class is now one of the highlights of my week. It’s interesting, fun and sociable. Love learning all the routines. It doesn’t matter if you’ve tap danced before or not, you will be made very welcome.


So, if you are thinking about joining a fitness or dance class then come along. This might also become one of the highlights of your week.

For the past six months I have been attending Jan’s exercise class for the Over 60s in Deal. I am really pleased with the way they are tailored to the needs of my age range and, unlike some classes, do not expect a level of fitness that I probably couldn’t have achieved 40 years ago!

The exercises are set to music and everyone can follow them at their own level with no pressure to do more than you are able to.

Jan is very knowledgeable and friendly and will always answer any queries we have on the routines and how best to adapt them to our individual needs.

The class is aimed at exercising and having fun and I think it provides not only to a structured and safe way to keep active as the years progress but also the encouragement to get out and meet new people. I would encourage anyone over 60 to join us as it is a great way to keep active and healthy as we get older.

I joined 18 months ago and hadn’t done tap dancing before although I’d done other types of dance. Since then I can’t believe the progress I’ve made.

Jan stretches us and teaches routines that are interesting, challenging, fun and really rewarding to do. I like to go beyond what I think I’m capable of and being in a class with more experienced tap dancers really helps.

It’s never, ever boring! I’m thrilled to be part of this friendly and dedicated class and look forward to it each week knowing I’m going to get a tiny bit better each time.
