Membership of the Centre, membership fee and AGM
The fee was introduced in 2007/2008, and will continue at the same rate for 2008/2009. It is charged to all students, except those attending English and Skills for Life courses, and those on our widening participation programme. It helps to mitigate the decrease in funding from the government for adult education which has taken place over the last few years, and which otherwise would lead to a much larger increase in fees. It also helps us to keep an appropriate balance between the price of the full fee and the concessionary fee, so that we continue to have a wide mix of students.
When you enrol on a course and sign your learning agreement, you are agreeing to become a member of the Mary Ward Settlement. All staff, as well as students, are members and have both the opportunity of electing representatives to the Board of Trustees and to vote at the AGM which is on Monday 15 December at 6.15pm. Members are invited to take an active part in the life of the Mary Ward Centre. The Principal and Vice Principal hold open meetings for members during the year. These meetings offer the opportunity for you to discuss your thoughts about the Centre or your course. Times and dates will be advertised in the Centre and on this website during the year. This year the membership fee is £8 for full fee payers and £4 for concessionary fee payers.
