Johannes Brahms		The AGM will take place on Monday 6th October 2008 and will take up the first half of the evening only.   We will dive back into the Brahms for the second half.

			*NEWS* Passing on the baton - New Musical Director After thirty highly successful years as Musical Director, Michael Ashcroft (left) will be standing down from the role in the summer of 2009.   We are delighted to announce that Neil Ferris (right) will be taking over as the choir's new MD from September 2009.  We look forward to welcoming him.

Introduction

We are a choir of some 160-180 members with a wide age range including several students and have a reputation for giving concerts of the highest quality, presented with professional soloists and orchestra.  In Michael Ashcroft, our Musical Director, we have a professional musician of the highest calibre.   He is assisted very ably by Norman Harper, Assistant Musical Director, and Michael Higgins who joined us in September 2008 as our rehearsal accompanist.  We are very fortunate to enjoy the tremendous support of our President, Ian Partridge CBE, and also that of our regular audience members who travel to hear and see our performances.  Of particular note, we value highly those supporters who are registered as Friends of the Choir.   In appreciation of this, the choir offers several benefits to its Friends in return and we would be very pleased to welcome you as a Friend of the Choir.  Click here to find out more about the Friends scheme. For the season 2007/2008, our previous rehearsal accompanist, Tim Sutton, took time off to work on some other projects.   We were delighted and very grateful when one of our altos, Joanna Kent, stepped in to the role during this period.   Thank you so much, Joanna.    Please do come along on a rehearsal night if only to listen at first if you're not sure about joining   We would be delighted to see you.  The choir extends a warm welcome to new singing members in all voice parts.
