As a neurosurgeon I deal with patients with brain and spine problems. These include patients with brain tumours, brain haemorrhage, hydrocephalus, chiari malformations and facial pain. Spinal problems include patients with sciatica, back pain, spinal claudication, spinal stenosis, neck pain and arm pain especially brachalgia. I also deal with patients with carpal tunnel syndrome and ulna nerve compression. Over recent years neurosurgery has expanded exponentially and treatment are now also available for patients with cerebral palsy, with the insertion of intrathecal baclofen pumps, parkinsons disease and epilepsy.

Biography: Born in London, I was educated at Ilford County Grammar School for Boys and then at the Victoria University of Manchester. After gaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons England I trained in neurosurgery in Nottingham. This was followed by a fellowship at the Necker Hospital in Paris and then at the Montefiore Hospital in New York, USA. On returning from the New York I worked as a paediatric neurosurgical fellow at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford. I then took up post as a Consultant in Adult and Paediatric Neurosurgery at King's College Hospital and Guy's Hospital.
