What is podiatry?

Podiatry (or chiropody) consists in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of foot, ankle and lower extremity disorders. Podiatry treats common diseases that affect most of the population: toenail problems, corns and calluses, verrucas, blisters, sport injuries, athlete’s foot, smelly feet, dry and cracked heels, heel pain.

Podiatry is a medical science that cares about feet. Feet are the support of your legs, your spine and all your body. Taking care of your feet is essential to have a good life. Probably, you have experienced foot pain or have had a foot disease. Podiatry can prevent a problem to become chronic and remove the pain from quotidian activities.

Nail reconstruction

Heal and reconstruct nails affected by horns and ingrown toe nails. Remove the pain in one session!

Biomechanics & orthotics

Biomechanics & orthotics

Biomechanics assess the way in which feet function when standing and during gait. South London Podiatry recommends the use of insoles or orthotics depending on each patient and the conclusion of each assessment.

Hospital visits

Hospital visits

South London Podiatry offers treatments to patients in hospitals. Scheduling a weekly or monthly visit is an option.

Medical Pedicure

Medical Pedicure

A non-invasive, dry procedure performed that combines podiatry with nail care. Recommended to treat cases of athlete's foot and corns.

Verrucae are treated with specific products for removal and to prevent them from reappearing.

Foot massage

Foot massage

Foot massage improves health and relaxes the body. Applying pressure in the foot can release energetic blockages in the rest of the body, providing pain relief and help alleviating stress and speeding up injury recovery.

Silicone props

Silicone props

Toes rubbing together, hard skin or corns, silicon props might can be solved by silicone props on most of cases. Props are custom made, can be hard or soft, and are extremely effective to correct toe issues.

About us

Jara Fernández

Jara is a qualified podiatrist with 10 years of experience. She's worked for the NHS in the care of diabetic foot and wounds in various institutions including Richmond Rehabilitation Unit, Bromley Healthcare CIC Ltd., Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. She's also worked in Pimlico Clinic, and Shuropody.

Jara qualified from the Alfonso X university in 2012 (Madrid, Spain) with a degree in Podiatric Medicine/Podiatry. Since then she has worked in as a fully qualified podiatrist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.
