All it takes is a momentary lapse of concentration or judgement when driving and the consequences can be terrible.

An otherwise careful driver can find themselves facing charges carrying lengthy custodial sentences. Even where there is no damage or injury, a conviction for a driving offence may have a very serious impact upon a person’s life and employment.

Stokoe Partnership Solicitors have extensive experience at representing clients facing a full range of serious driving matters, including:

  • Causing death by careless or dangerous driving
  • Dangerous driving
  • Careless driving
  • Driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs
  • Driving without insurance or MOT certificate
  • Speeding offences
  • Failing to stop after an accident

We regularly instruct leading members of the Bar, and we ensure that cases are matched with barristers that have the necessary level of expertise and experience in dealing with the offence. We also work with a range of experts (including medical, forensic, scientific and technological experts) to ensure that the prosecution’s evidence is fully tested and that any defence is properly advanced.

Our expert motoring lawyers are also experienced at preparing and advancing “special reasons” to avoid disqualification for clients who are convicted or who plead guilty to motoring offences.

Stokoe Partnership Solicitors has been regarded as one of the leading firms in the UK for serious crime for many years and is recognised by both of the UK’s leading legal directories, The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.

Notable cases

We successfully represented a client accused of dangerous driving and attempt to cause GBH. Our client was the driver of a vehicle which was seen on CCTV pursuing a male on a moped at speed. When the moped rider came to a halt at a junction our client intentionally crashed into the back of the moped causing it to crash onto an onward bus. The moped driver fled the scene leaving a loaded firearm at the scene. Our client successfully pleaded the defence of necessity to both charges
