West Middlesex Family History Society

Image of the month Our most recent memorial inscriptions addition is for St. Mary, Hanwell. The church stands on high ground above the valley of the Brent, and its spire can be seen for miles around. It is surrounded by greenery and is known locally as 'The church by the Bunny Park'. In this case members of the church did all the recording of the inscriptions in detail, with photographs. They then asked us to put their records online on Find My Past for them, which we have been delighted to do. The first stage is to get them onto the website, submitting the records to Find My Past will follow shortly.

Tip of the month This one is more for following up on well-known historical charactes than you would typically find among your own ancestors, but you may find a use for the tip. You likely know that blue plaques are used to identify where historically interesting events took place, but how do you know what exists out there? Open Plaques provides the answer. use this link which includes a search facility to find any blue plaque.

Our aims
The Society aims to encourage and assist those involved in the study of family history and genealogy in the western part of the ancient English county of Middlesex. See also our Objectives page.

New members
We are always keen to welcome new members. Benefits of membership include attending our monthly meetings at St. John's Centre in Isleworth, where you can meet like-minded souls, many of whom have been enjoying this hobby for a long while. You will also receive a copy of our Quarterly Journal. Joining instructions may be found on our How to join the Society page. Attending our meetings is free, and you may come as a guest just to see what goes on, if you wish. Cost of membership is a modest £15 per annum.
