December 3rd 2010 - Hollywood Cottage one of UK's best winter hideaways. The cottage has recently been reviewed on Yahoo's Travel site under their section on the UK’s best winter hideaways!

January 11th 2010 - Google Streetview comes to Hollywood Cottage. The folks at Google have been up at the cottage. They've driven up the valley past the top of the track (you can see the cottage through the trees) so you get to see the great local views.

August 5th 2009 - Sky at night - A lot of people marvel at just how dark it is at the cottage at night. See how the night sky is going to look when you are staying.

Hollywood holiday cottage, or to use its proper Welsh name Llwyncelyn ('Klooinkelin'), is a secluded 18th century cottage in the Cambrian Mountains of Mid Wales. It sits next to the river in the upper reaches of the steep-sided Twrch valley, nestled amongst woodland, fields and wetlands.

The holiday cottage has an open plan living/dining area with exposed beams, wooden oak floor, comfy sofas, wood-burning stove and inglenook fireplace. There is also a colour TV with Satellite (no Sky card), DVD player, DVDs, stereo and extensive range of literature on the local history, flora and fauna.

The beamed kitchen has a quarry-tile floor and fitted pine cupboards. It is equipped with electric oven, fridge with freezer box, toaster, kettle, microwave and full cutlery and crockery sets. The bath/shower room is off the hall next to the kitchen.

A stone spiral staircase leads off the living room of the holiday cottage to the single, open plan bedroom upstairs. This has fitted cupboards, double bed, more comfy chairs, A-framed ceiling and colour TV. This is definitely my favourite room in the cottage. I’ve really tried to make the most of the light up here with a couple of skylights and by keeping all of the colours very pale. This really emphasises the textures and character in the beams and makes it a warm, airy bed/sitting room to relax in even in the depths of winter.

The cottage is ideally situated for walking, being just off the Cambrian Way and near the famous Devil's Bridge, fishing, paragliding, horse-riding and a whole wealth of active and not so active pursuits.

Well that’s a quick introduction to our little hide-away in the hills. I know you’ll get as much pleasure from staying there as we have over the years and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours,

Andrew and Lisa

"We arrived late, wind blowing and rain pouring and the cottage was so welcoming and cosy. Absolutely amazing scenery and walks. Devil's Bridge was amazing even though it was a bit of a cardiac hill! Weather was appalling which made the cottage even more cosy and welcoming. They say there is no place like home - we could quite easily make this ours. Many Thanks." - Andrea, Simon and Jet

"How lovely to stay in a Hobbit's Cottage in the wood! We awoke to a frosted woodland this morning and a fox slipped through the hedgerow just as the winter sun crepy over the hills." - Annette, Rich and Sparky

"What a lovely cottage! We shall miss it and didn't want to leave, so I expect we'll be back. Thanks for all of the thoughtful little touches, they were much appreciated" - Helen and Eva

"Thankyou for sharing your retreat with us. We loved the cottage and the tranquility. Highlights of the week were the Teifi Pools circular walk (11mls from Strata Florida Abbey or 7mls from the end of the lane), the fresh seafood bought from the harbour at Aberaeron, the mountain drive from Devil's Bridge to Rhiwant, the underground tour of the goldmines and the good food served at the Drovers's Arms - Gill, Graham and (now exhausted) dog, Amy."
