We are a small school that fosters lively, motivated and interested children who have not only confidence in their own abilities but also a considerate awareness of their peers and their community. The emotional well-being of each and every child lays at the centre of our ethos, and continues to shape our dedication to developing soft skills throughout the school community.

All our staff know who might need that little extra encouragement, and our specialist teachers foster enthusiasm for music, sport, languages, and the arts. Even our catering team know which children like that little extra gravy with their chicken!

Hyde Park, right on our doorstep, provides pupils with plenty of fresh air, access to nature, and space for both free play and sports, all timetabled daily. In addition, we use local facilities for dance, gymnastics, football, cricket, touch rugby, badminton, netball and CHS Ball – a unique combination of skill, chance, and athletics! Pupils from Year One to Year Six are taught how to swim proficiently in all four swimming styles at Kensington Leisure Centre.

everyone makes music!
Music is a very important part of CHS school life and our music curriculum includes music theory as well as recorder and glockenspiel classes. By Year Four, the children are well prepared to participate in School performances. The Junior and Senior Choirs involve every child. Individual music lessons include singing, piano, woodwind and strings. The peripatetic teachers, mostly RAM or RCM graduates, work closely with our Head of Music to ensure each pupil’s progress is encouraged and celebrated.
Parents are regularly invited to informal presentations and performances in school as well as stage productions that include the Christmas Plays, Carol Concert, Poetry Afternoon and the Summer Show.

a principal and a parent
I am very proud to be the third generation of my family leading Connaught House School. As a mother and an aunt, I am also delighted to count amongst our roll the fourth generation of our family associated with the school.
I am hugely passionate about our ethos of developing each child’s potential, nurturing a thirst for learning and fostering a love for independent enlightenment that will support pupils far beyond their time with us. The school stands for traditional family values where consideration and courtesy are as important as academic excellence. Above all, our efforts are a partnership - not just with the pupil, but also with their family.
