Shirley Oaks Hospital originally opened to the public in 1986, and today is a part of Circle Health Group - the UKs largest independent healthcare provider.

Located in Shirley Oaks Village on the outskirts of Croydon, the hospital offers treatments and services ranging from Dermatology to Orthopaedics.  We see many patients from local areas such as Sutton, Banstead, Purley and Wallington, as well as a number of patients from further afield including Kent and Surrey. People travel to us to seek the expertise of our experienced consultants, and to make the most of our great facilities and compassionate team of healthcare professionals.

At Shirley Oaks Hospital, we are dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services with a personalised touch. Our purpose-built facilities, state-of-the-art imaging and diagnostic centre, experienced medical staff and our commitment to patient-centred care should make us your first choice for healthcare needs.

Car

Outside London - From the M25, exit at junction 6. Take the first exit left, at the roundabout onto the A22 heading towards Caterham. On the A22, continue to a roundabout and take the third exit right, onto Hillbury Road. Continue briefly on Hillbury Road and take the left hand fork onto Tithepit Shaw Lane. Continue to the end and turn left onto Limpsfield Road (B269). Continue for approximately one mile to a roundabout and take third exit, right, onto the Addington Road heading towards Selsdon. Continue through the traffic lights, at which point the road name changes to Selsdon Park Road (A2022), continue for about two miles to a roundabout. At the roundabout take the first exit onto Gravel Hill (A212). Just before you reach the top of the hill, bear right onto A215 onto Shirley Hills Road. Proceed to roundabout and continue straight over (keep in middle lane). Proceed to roundabout and continue straight over onto Shirley Road. Take second turning on right into Primrose Lane. Continue for approximately half a mile and take left turn into Poppy Lane.

From London - Follow the A232 heading towards West Wickham. From the Wickham Road take the second turning on the left Shirley Oaks Road, and continue for approximately half a mile, turning into Poppy Lane on your right.

Train

East Croydon Station and Bromley South Station are both situated in close proximity, and taxis are available from outside both stations.

Bus

From East or West Croydon Bus Station the 367 bus stops approximately 5 minutes away from the hospital (Poppy Lane) on foot. From East Croydon BR Station, bus numbers 119, 466, 198, 130 can be taken, although a 20 minute walk to the hospital is required.

  • Please call the hospital where the patient is admitted, press zero for switchboard, and they will transfer your call to the patient’s room, or put you in touch with a nurse or a ward.
  • Yes, our hospitals have free WiFi access for our patients and visitors. 
  • Once your appointment is booked, you can request to receive a confirmation email or letter with all the necessary information. To find the confirmation email, please search your email inbox for any message from [email protected].

    You will also receive a text reminder 48 hours prior to your appointment with all the details you need. Please note that this will not be sent if the appointment is booked within 48 hours of the appointment date.

      Patient Experience
      We understand that a positive patient experience is integral to your healing and recovery. From the moment you step into our facility, you'll find a warm, welcoming atmosphere, comfortable accommodations, and care tailored to your needs.

      On arrival at Shirley Oaks Hospital, you will be welcomed by our friendly reception staff. A member of the team will take you to your room and explain all the room facilities to you. We provide a variety of services to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Your care and comfort, together with peace of mind, are our priority.

      We admit patients for a wide range of medical and surgical procedures. All patients are admitted under the care of a Consultant Surgeon or Physician of their choice. The hospital is able to draw on the expertise of these experienced consultants who chose to bring their practice to the hospital.

      The hospital has 18 beds. With our top priority being your safety and peace of mind, all rooms offer privacy and comfort with ensuite facilities and Freeview TV.

      There is immediate, 24-hour access to nursing support via the call system and all rooms are supplied with piped oxygen and suction.

      We have 3 theatres, a JAG-accredited endoscopy suite, an onsite physiotherapy department with a gym, a brand-new state-of-the-art imaging and diagnostics centre as well as an Ambulatory Care Unit. Shirley Oaks has recently benefitted from significant investment and will continue to as part of the hospital’s plans to expand and upgrade the facility.

      The hospital offers a wide variety of culinary choices from an à la carte menu and all dietary preferences are catered for; we pride ourselves in taking care of you while you recover. Visiting hours are flexible and visitors can also enjoy meals on-site as well.

      We also have a large car park that is free for patients and visitors to the hospital.

    • Shirley Oaks Hospital is an 18-bed hospital situated in Croydon and is easily accessible from London and the Southeast including Surrey.

      The hospital offers the privacy and comfort of ensuite facilities, Freeview TV and free parking for patients and their visitors. The hospital has 3 theatres, an endoscopy suite with minor procedures theatre and a pharmacy department. The hospital also has an imaging suite with X-ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound and Mammography.

      These facilities, combined with the latest in technology and on-site support services, enable our consultants to undertake a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to complex surgery.

      Medication prescribed for NHS patients receiving treatment or consultations at Shirley Oaks Hospital will reflect the medicines included within the Local Health Economy formulary.
