Meet Greg Powell

Greg Powell has been the Senior Partner of the firm since it was founded on the 1st August 1977.

We have acted successfully in matters as diverse as detention in Guantanamo Bay, cash for honours scandal, manslaughter allegations following major incidents, including the Warwickshire fire disaster and Cumbria rail crash; misconduct in public office, and in every type of crime, murder, conspiracy, fraud, counterfeiting, rape, terrorism and currently in relation to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.

Criminal charges: An Awful and difficult situation for anyone, a private prosecution by a regulatory authority, a first time in a criminal court and on trial. Two earlier firms of solicitors who really were not listening to what I said or felt and in such situations one longs for the rescue by the cavalry. Greg Powell was recommended as a man of solid reputation and one not afraid to take on the odds. I called him; he listened, and then acted. He carefully considered the case and allocated an excellent barrister who was impeccable. We won. My barrister assigned to the case was always on hand and meticulous in preparing the case.

Saloud joined Powell Spencer & Partners in August 2012 after graduating from Brunel University obtaining a first class degree in Economics. Saloud became a Partner in 2018.
Saloud is a qualified Costs Lawyer and leads the firm’s internal costs drafting and costs litigation department, ranging from legal aid to private client.

In recent years Saloud has established a very successful client base and receives instructions ranging from Top 100 firms to Sole Practitioners. Saloud specialises in legal aid costs and provides a wealth of experience with preparing claim forms, drafting bill of costs, complex high cost case plans, points of dispute and replies and advising on general billing procedures.

Saloud is a member of the Association of Costs Lawyers (ACL).

Saloud was appointed to the Legal Aid Agency's Review Panel as an Independent Costs Assessor in August 2021.
